New Chicken Coop Complete

The new chicken coop is finally done.  The nesting box works perfectly.  The chicken lay their eggs in there, and nothing else.  Results in much cleaner eggs.

Also, baby Silky and Buff Orpington in the old coop until they are big enough to join the older ones.

Building a new chicken coop

It's time to build a new chicken coop since the old one is too small and I'm getting two more chickens.  My brother helped me design and build this roost section.  I'll add the nesting and run sections next.  Here more pics.

75 gal fish tank

I finally gave in and decided to setup a fish tank again.  My dad was trying to get me to sale his 75 gallon tank that he didn't want anymore, but instead I decided I wanted it.  This is the result.  Right now I have 4 goldfish in it.  One lionhead from Selina's mom, one oranda and one black moor from Moanalua Pets, and one calico fantail from Petland Kahala.  The fantail was actually labeled Ryukin, but to me it looks more like a fantail.  All the plants are from my dad's too.  I'm only running two sponge filters on it currently.  I was running a HOB filter on it, but it was too loud, so I turned it off.  I figure I do weekly 75% water changes anyways, so no need.  I did have to buy a new light, which was $125 from Pets Plus in town.  I like the light a lot.  It an LED type, and you can change the bulb if it goes out.  And you can add additional light bulbs if you want, up to three, but it only came with one.  I think for now I'll just stick with the one.  It even has a blue night light feature built in.  My dad also have me a wet/ dry filter sump, but as of now, I don't know how to set it up, and I'm trying to sell it on Craigslist.  If it doesn't sell, then maybe one day I'll set it up.  Who knows.

My new Axolotl

I got a baby axolotl on Sunday from somebody on craigslist.  I used to have one when I was a kid and thought it was the coolest thing.  I remembered how my turtle bit off the tail and one of the back legs and it entirely grew back.  Awesome stuff.

A few weeks ago I saw one at Kahala Petland and it sparked the memory.  At $30 bucks, I didn't want to fork it over.  Then I just thought I would look for one on craigslist and luckily I found one and it didn't cost me anything.  It was a barter and I was cool with parting with some electronic thing I no longer use.

Me and Kaile decided to name her Aby.  I don't really know if it's male or female,  but I like to think of it as female.  She's only 3 1/2 inches long right now.  I feed her frozen bloodworms twice a day and have some baby guppies in there which she eats whenever she gets lucky.  I also do 100% water changes every few days.

Here are more photos.

Pomelo/ Bolook/ Jabong sprouts

My mother in law told about a friend of hers that would grow some bolook sprouts in a pot.  She said he would grow many seeds very close together.  The result is a very nice ornamental.  We decided to give it a try and I must say it came out quite nice.  Given we eat a lot of bolook, since her hawaii Kai house has a very productive tree, I think we might make a few more of these.
